Glasses and Face Shapes

Glasses have always been an object viewed under a rather negative light. People who are bespectacled tend to be called "geeks", "nerds" or "four eyes". But in my perception, glasses are a superb accessory. It doesn't mean that one cannot be fashionable if one wears glasses. Some celebrities who rock their glasses include:

Tina Fey
Amanda Peet
Alicia Keys
Still, it is crucial that you find a pair of glasses which suits your face shape. So here are a few guidelines on how to find your perfect spectacles.

Round Face
Kelly Clarkson
If you have full cheeks and a rounded chin, go for rectangular and horizontal styles which can make faces appear longer and thinner. You can also choose upswept frames that draw attention to the top of your face. Avoid small and short frames that accentuate face length.

Square Face
Sandra Bullock
If you have a square face with a strong jaw line, try oval and round frames. You can also go for butterfly shaped glasses. You should avoid geometric and square shaped frames that accentuate the angles of your face.

Oval Face
Eva Mendes
If you have an oval face with high cheekbones, then you are a lucky person. You can go with almost any frame shape. However, do not get frames that are too large for you features. That would drown out our face.

Heart Shaped Face
Scarlett Johansson
If you have a broad forehead and wide cheek bones that narrow to a small chin, go for bottom-heavy frames that add width to your lower face. Do not choose top-heavy frames that pull attention upward. You should also avoid frames with decorative temples that accentuate your broad upper face.

Glasses come in so many shapes and funky colors. It's real fun to play around with them. All you have to do is make sure that the frame shape goes with your face. Pair your glasses with some makeup and chio clothes. Then you're officially ready to walk down Fabulousity Lane!

L'OREAL Open Eyes Chrome Intensity eyeshadow quad

I really love eyeshadow quads. Not only do they save space but they also provide a wide variety of colors. Looking at so many different colors just makes me a happy girl :)

So when I got L'OREAL's Open Eyes Chrome Intensity eyeshadow quad, I felt ecstatic.

And you can probably tell why. The packaging itself is simply elegant. I adore the butterfly situated at the corner and the golden-ness of the packaging. It makes the quad look classy and expensive. I have a soft spot for makeup with gorgeous packaging. That's why I'm a big fan of Etude House products. Their packaging is always cute and uber chic!

Anyways, back to this L'OREAL quad. These colors really appeal to me. If you have read my previous posts, then you would already know that pink and purple are included in my favorite eyeshadow color list. This quad is perfect for me. It has a sweet pink (Pink Mania), a lovely purple (Purple Obsession), a rich dark purple (Open Deep Purple) and a dazzling white (Open Highlighter) eyeshadow color.

These eyeshadows are quite pigmented. They are also kind of shimmery. What I like about it is that the glittery bits are not chunky. They are very tiny and fine. Here's a swatch of each color:

Alright, the swatches don't exactly look shimmery. But when you rub it on your hand, you can definitely see little flexes of beautiful glitter.

The downside of this product is that it was rather pricey. Compared to the Maybeline eyeshadow quads, this L'OREAL quad is exorbitant. That's why I tend to stick with Maybeline quads. They are affordable and of good quality. Still, I love my only L'OREAL quad. It is my precious baby!

Harry Potter Premiere

Emma Watson simply dazzled at the premiere of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 2. Yes, the Harry Potter saga has finally come to an end. Personally, I prefer the books over the movies. But hey, it is always nice to see the characters come alive in movies.

There is no doubt that Emma has blossomed over the span of the movies. She is now a fantabulous actress as well as fashionista. Acting wise, I think that Emma is the best out of the three Harry Potter stars. She comes off as more natural as compared to the other two.

Emma wore a gorgeous £8,000 Oscar de la Renta ice-blue gown which left my jaw hanging in awe.  The beaded bodice and tulle skirt enhanced the uniqueness of this gown. They also made it absolutely fairy-tale like. Details matter, people!

She wore a crisp white Antonio Berardi crepe jacket with her gown. Smashing combination I must say ♥♥♥

And once again, this gal managed to look stunning. Her makeup was subtle but it brought forth the force of her natural beauty. Emma can never get it wrong when it comes to light but beautiful makeup!

For the Harry Potter premiere after party, Emma  wore an champagne colored Elie Saab dress. Need I say more? I really love the intricate details on her delicate dress. Its design maybe simple but these elaborated details made all the difference. It made the dress F-A-B! The sheer parts also gave the dress a tint of sexiness. A mixture of sweet and sexy is lethal!

Here are what the other Harry Potter actresses wore:

Clemence Poesy, Bonnie Wright, Evanna Lynch

Clemence and Evanna's dresses are adorable. They project the actresses' vibrant youthfulness. I'm not too sure about Bonnie's choice of dress though. I feel that it makes her look matronly, no?

Song of the Moment - Who Says

I have been really loving Who Says by Selena Gomez and The Scene. I don't typically listen to her songs. But this particular song of hers stood out. Why? Well because it is inspiring! I have a soft spot for songs that encourage people :)

The lyrics are so meaningful and beautiful. What it is saying is that you should not let bullies define who you are. That you should have more faith in your own capabilities. Here's part of the chorus:

Who says
Who says you’re not perfect
Who says you’re not worth it
Who says you’re the only one that’s hurting
Trust me
That’s the price of beauty
Who says you’re not pretty
Who says you’re not beautiful
Who says

This cute and upbeat song definitely promotes self-worth. Love it!

Fresh Face Makeup

Makeup is such a wonderful tool. It can help enhance your features and hide your flaws. Overdoing it, however, can lead to disastrous results. Take Taylor Momsen for example.

Her raccoon eyes literally made me shudder in horror...And she is such a beautiful girl. Why ruin her natural beauty with globs of makeup? In my opinion, going fresh faced is the best. You don't need heavy makeup to look gorgeous. Here are some examples of celebrities with fresh face makeup:

Jennifer Lawrence
I couldn't help but gape at this picture of Jennifer. She looks so frigging stunning with her barely there eye makeup, slight tint of blush and nude lips. It is amazing how such a simple look can bring out the full force of her beauty. Her makeup is flawless. Period.

Katrina Bowden
Another fresh faced beauty is Katrina Bowden. She looks ethereal in this picture. Like Jennifer, Katrina has minimal eye makeup and nude lips. Her skin is practically glowing, people! Jadore her hair style as well. It goes beautifully with her subtle makeup.

Emma Watson
With her English rose complexion and fine features, Emma obviously does not need much makeup to look pretty. This picture is proof. This gal never fails to impress. She does it so perfectly all the time. Her makeup is never too heavy. She puts just the right amount of makeup to make a spectacular appearance.

Blake Lively
Blake is one of the those few celebrities who manage to look gorgeous every time. She always has that fresh and dewy appearance. A little dab of shimmery white eyeshadow at the inner corners of her eyes helped to brighten her look. Blake is a whizz at not only makeup but also at fashion. Her outfits are frequently winners.

All the celebrities above dazzle with just minimal makeup. Still, I feel that makeup can only do so much to make your complexion appear radiant. It is best to have skin that glows from within. This is where skincare comes in. It is really important to ensure that your skin is well hydrated and protected from horrid UV rays. Once your skin is healthy, you will look fabulous naturally!
