The Good and The Bad

The Good

1. The awesome people around me: The caring mother, the fabulous twin sister, the hilarious cousin sister, the loving boyfriend, the wacky BFF and the warm course mates.

2. Upcoming movie marathon (Gonna watch 3 movies straight: The Hunger Games, Mirror Mirror and We Not Naughty)

3. New books to devour (Norwegian Wood by Haruki Murakami and a card making book)

4. A new M.A.C lipstick (It was free! Nuff said!)

The Bad

1. Piles upon piles of assignments to complete (it is really endless!)

2. The horrible 36°C weather (it is making me sluggish and turning my brain into an unproductive mush)

Yours truly shall end this post with a quote: Better to light a candle than curse the darkness :)

Exhausted

Life is tough sometimes :( Just when you thought everything is going to be okay, a mega bomb is dropped. And then you find yourself back at miserable square one. Oh well...

♥ Cheer Up ♥

It is impossible to be happy all the time. There are bound to be moments where the weight of the world seems to be on your shoulders. You'll start to feel pretty miserable.

Whenever this happens, you definitely have to find ways to cheer yourself up. If not, you'll turn into a sad blob that emits waves of depression. Here are several ways I use to eliminate sadness.

1. Pour my sorrows to my twin sister
Never bottle up the negative emotions you're feeling. It will accumulate and one day you'll reaching a breaking point. No good comes out of that, right? Tell a close friend or family member about your problems. You'll usually feel relieved after pouring everything out. In my case, I tell my twin Ann, everything. I can always rely on her to make me feel tonnes better. She is my ultimate remedy of sadness ^^ Another special person who can drag me out of my moodiness is my cousin sister. We practically grew up together. Hysterical laughter and fun times are never lacking whenever I'm with Ann and my cousin sister.

2. Think of my wonderful extended family and friends
Whenever I feel down, I think of the sweet and funny memories I have with my family and friends. I have a large extended family and I'm proud to say that they are absolutely hilarious! Their antics alone have left me in fits of laughter. Looking back at these wonderful memories (family trips) certainly helps cheer up me. My friends play a part too. Just talking or chatting to them makes me happier.

3. Watch a movie/series
Movies are a remedy for me as well. There are a few movies which crack me up no matter how many times I watch them. These include Bedazzled and the Ice Age movies. Bedazzled came out in 2000, starring Brendan Fraser and Elizabeth Hurley. This movie is uber funny and never fails to make me laugh. As for TV series, I'm really into How I Met Your Mother and The Big Bang Theory. These shows make me laugh loads and that's good because laughing naturally makes you less unhappy.

4. Shopping
Okay, so retail therapy is not really the best way but it works for me :) It is absurd how I can cheer up after getting some stuff, especially clothes and makeup (I'm borderline obsessed with cosmetics)! Of course, I refrain from overspending. Otherwise, I would end up eating plain porridge everyday to cope with my overwhelming expenses.

5. Food
Ah, the wonders of food. Cheese, chocolates, pizza, cakes...they all do the trick for me. There was one particular day where I was feeling utterly stressed out by the amount of assignments I had. My sister, cousin sister and I ended up buying a tub of Baskin Robbins Hokey Pokey ice-cream to share. It immediately made us feel better. I don't know...there's something about eating ice-cream that cheers you up :) But remember, you should not go on a binging spree and overeat.

6. Listen to songs
The right songs can really lift your spirits sometimes. I have several songs which I categorize as "happy songs". They include Katy Perry's Last Friday Night (check out her music video if you haven't, it's freaking hilarious) and Avril Lavigne's What the Hell. Whenever I feel blue, I will crank these songs up and relax. The upbeat music really does make me happier.

Being stuck in the blue is not appealing at all. So it is best if you can find specific ways to cheer yourself up. Life's like ice-cream, so enjoy it before it melts!

Graduation Day

9/9/2011 will stay in my heart forever.

It was my graduation day. My parents and wacky relatives attended my convocation. Their presence made this special day all the more meaningful. The more the merrier indeed!

I experienced so many emotions on this day - happiness, pride, satisfaction. But the ultimate fulfillment was seeing my parents' and relatives' big smiles. They are really proud of me and knowing that makes all my effort worthwhile!

I received my Bachelor Degree's scroll from Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak. Yours truly nearly had a coronary when I realized that he was the guest of honour! I didn't know that he was attending the convocation.

All in all, my graduation day was exciting, chaotic and nerve-wrecking.

It was, in other words, perfect

Cupcake of Memories

A perfect little cupcake...

Eaten in a cozy and quaint French cafe,

The wonderful memories it brings back,

I miss London.

Home

Snapped this picture when I was on my way back to my hometown.

Beautiful ain't it? Orangy evening sky and cotton candy-like clouds combined with serene paddy fields. It's always good to be back. Home is where the heart is after all :)

Kitties

I'm definitely a cat person. Not to say that I hate dogs. I kinda like smaller dogs such as pommies but I find myself terrified of bigger ones. Maybe it is because I got chased by dogs on two separate ocassions when I was little. I was around seven when my granny's neighbor's dog went bonkers and chased me out of the blue. To make things worse, the dog was freakin HUGE. It was mean-looking Alsatian!

The horrid dog stopped chasing half way. But I was really traumatised by this incident. I remember screaming my lungs out and running all the way back to my granny's house in tears. Definitely not a good experience with dogs....

Anyways, back to kitties. I have developed a liking for Persian cats and Siamese cats. Persian cats are just so gorgeous with their stunning fluffy fur. I would love to have one like the picture below. Isn't it adorable? Look at its striking blue eyes and pure white fur *sigh* Absolute kitty perfection...

Siamese cats, on the other hand, are very exotic. Whenever I see a picture of one, I always have the impression that they are really intelligent, as if they know something that I don't. I also like the wonderful contrast of the Siamese cat's fur color -- A dark colored face paired with a cream colored body. Majestic. That's the ideal adjective to describe them.

Look at these cute Siamese kittens! Don't they make you go "Aww...."?

So yeah, I'm totally looking forward to the day when I can return home and have the pitter patter of kitty feet greeting me ^^

Worst Spaghetti EVER

Hands down. I have NEVER tasted such horrendous spaghetti in my whole life!!! It all began when I went to a dessert shop with my sister and housemate for dinner. Though dessert is its specialty, this shop does sell other food stuff as well. I was not in a mood for anything fried, so I thought hey, spaghetti sounds fab. Thus, I ordered their Cheese Spaghetti.

When the spaghetti arrived, all I could do was stare at it in absolute horror. It was soooo freakin...how do I put this nicely...plain. I literally mean PLAIN. Come on, a normal dish of spaghetti would usually include some ingredients like slices of meat or mushrooms. But NO, this spaghetti stood out in a nasty way. It did NOT have any ingredients in it at all. There wasn't even any nice gravy. Oh and as for the cheese, it is Cheese Spaghetti after all, there was a single slice of cheese placed on the top of the limp strands of spaghetti. How is THAT even possible? I always thought that the cheese is supposed to be melted and mixed with the spaghetti! The cheese used for this spaghetti is the solid cheese which you normally eat with bread (Think Kraft Cheese).

That's not all. I suppose if the spaghetti strands tasted alright, I could force myself to eat the whole thing, cheese and all. But hell no, I could not bear to finish it at all. Why? Well that's because the spaghetti strands itself were sooooo limp, mushy and tasteless. Obviously they had over-boiled it. It felt as if I was eating sodden, left-in-the-larder-too-long noodles! In the end, I could only manage to eat one-third of it. Any more and I would have thrown up >.<

The worst thing is that the spaghetti was rather expensive. Surely such outrageously screwed spaghetti doesn't cost THAT much. Too bad that I forgot to take a photo of the thing itself but I guess you can roughly picture it. I'm never going back to that shop for its main meals ever again. Maybe just for its dessert which was alright.

Heartwarming Gesture

I was feeling very crappy today. However, my day was made much brighter by my dearest cousin sister. She bought a packet of chocolate chip teddy bear cookies for Ann and I. What's more, she actually pasted an adorable picture of a chocolate cake on the packet of cookies. This personal touch warmed my heart greatly ^^

A simple gesture yet so meaningful... Love you Biao Mei  Thanks for making my day a better one :)

Fabulous Ipoh Trip

My Final Year Project is finally DONE!!! I'm freeeee *does a celebratory dance*

Well not totally free actually beacuse there are still loads of assignments and presentations. But still, finishing my FYP really eases the pressure. So today, I went to Ipoh for a shopping trip with my sister, cousin and housemate. I haven't shopped for ages and I was practically itching to get SOMETHING. Naturally, I got makeup in the end :) I bought a purple shadow liner from Maybeline. It is called the 2-IN-1 Impact Shadow Liner. It's great as this product can be used as an eyeliner or eyeshadow :) I HAVE been wanting a purple eyeliner so this is a worthy purchase!

After shopping, we decided to have Korean food for dinner. The food was simply awesome! We ordered beef and pork to be grilled. Of course the waiters there grilled it for us, otherwise we would have burnt the meat into inedible blackened bits. We wrapped the grilled meat with lettuce together with garlic and some kind of spicy vegetable. Then we consumed the whole bundle of food in one mighty chomp. Freakin delicious!!! We also ordered other dishes like spicy Kimchi soup. Here's a yummy-licious picture of what we ate....

And after we finished eating....

Overall, it was a fantabulous dinner and I enjoyed it immensely. It's real fun to hang out with my dear sister, wacky cousin and hilarious housemate (I swear, those girls are so freakin funny!) Love you gurls muacks ♥ Hopefully there will be more fun-filled times like this!

Horrendous Heat

Heat can be so unforgiving. It turns people's brains into mush and makes them sluggish and slow. And even if they WANT to be productive, Heat will slowly wrap its arms around them and tempt them to just lie there, dormant and useless. I occasionally blame the hot weather for the procrastination of my work (who doesn't?). Seriously, Malaysian weather is atrocious!!! Sometimes, I can even feel the sun burning deep into my skin, roasting it *shudders* Malaysian heat reminds me of the Sahara desert where camels frolic....

Why can't Malaysia have winter? :(

When it gets too hot, all I want to do is curl up and sleep. Brain's not working anyway. Blame the horrid weather for that! Sleep is the only way out. And that's what I'm going to do now. So goodnight! ^^

The Journey So Far...

When I was down, you were there to cheer me up. When I was sick, you took great care of me. When I was demotivated, you filled my head with encouragement. When I was giving up, you made sure that I stood up again and faced whatever challenges that came towards me.

I seriously cannot imagine a life without my twin sister Ann. 22 years together. She has always been there for me in desperate times. Always was, always will be. So here's a poem dedicated to my dearest sister :)

So many good things come in pairs….

Like ears and socks and panda bears.
But best of all are sets of twins,
with extra laughter, double grins.

There's so much fun in having two
with twice as many points of view.
So much alike, forever linked,
and yet they're also quite distinct.

They share a birthday and a name,
But moods and tempers aren't the same.
Although at times they may dispute,
their loyalty is absolute.

From days of youth till life is done,
it's one for both and both for one.
We're all quite novel and precise,
But special folks ~
God made twice.

Thanks for always being there for me. Love you 姐姐^^

Life As It Is

Last week was one helluva a week filled with certain ups and downs. On the positive side:

Makeup. I am OBSSESSED with makeup ^_^ I had a fantastic time making up with my sister and cousin yesterday night. You see, we simply had to find a suitable look for our individual graduation pictures. Can't imagine slathering on the wrong kind of make up and looking down right hideous. 10 years down the road and you look at the pic thinking "Oh my God....who is that creature?!" Soooo don't want that to happen! The night was filled with shrieks of laughter and colors. Thankfully, all three of us managed to find colors which suit us. Ann helped a great deal. In fact, she was the one who influenced me into loving makeup. She claimed that I have graduated with flying colors in terms of putting makeup :) It is times like this that is meaningful. Having fun with your loved ones in a totally relaxed atmosphere where you can be yourself.

The downside of last week:

It all started with workshops. I'm talking about postgraduate workshops that discuss your options in the future. Not that they were bad or anything. It was more of me trying my best to figure out what is best for my future. It just so happened that I am the kind of person who is sooooo undecided about her own future. I do NOT have an actual clear idea about what I want to become . The thing is...I'm graduating soon, very soon in fact. Take Masters? Then move on to PHD? If I take Masters, what should I major into? Or should I just start working? :( Feel so lost. Suddenly, the day seemed darker and thunder clouds started to appear above my head. Hopefully everything will turn out fine in the end *fingers crossed*
