Anna Sui Flight of Fancy Perfume

To be honest, I don't really like perfumes. I don't know why but most of the time, perfumes bizarrely give me headaches. And I often find the fragrances too heavy and overwhelming...

You can probably guess that walking past perfume booths is not my favourite thing to do. All the fragrances would invade my nose in a rush and the next time I know, my head is pounding. Talk about sensory overload :/

Then Anna Sui's Flight of Fancy perfume came into my life.

It was a birthday gift from a friend. At first, I was a wee bit skeptical as my mindset was currently set to "Perfumes = Unwanted headaches". So I braced myself and gave its fragrance a tentative sniff.

The first thing that came into my mind was "holy sh*t!" Ahem...do excuse the language because I was really, really surprised. NO headache! What's more, I even liked the fragrance! It smelt soooo fresh and citrus-sy.

The packaging itself is extremely attractive. I particularly love the intricate floral designs and the pretty peacock. Okay, okay, I love the whole thing! Inside, the perfume was placed in a glam pink box.

I practically swooned at how GORGEOUS it was! The bottle just screams elegance. The top of the perfume is in the form of a transparent peacock with its fully displayed tail. Once again, there are detailed floral designs on the bottle. Aren't the colors iridescent? Look at the pinkish and golden hues of it *sighs* I'm so gonna keep the bottle when it finishes =D

Its fragrance is an exotic blend of Litchi, Yuzu and Java Lemon, sprinkled with Purple Rain Freesia, Rose Blossom and Amber Crystals. It also has tints of White Woods and Skin musk. All together, they provide a nice citrus and floral scent.

I must say that this perfume is absolutely wonderful. Its fragrance is not too heavy, just nice to me in fact. It is best worn in the day. I usually spritz it on my wrists and neck area. Perfume works best when applied to your pulse points.

Needless to say, this is my only and favorite perfume :)

M.A.C Bomshell Lipstick

Here's yours truly's latest obsession.

That's right, I'm talking about the M.A.C Bomshell lipstick that I won in a contest. I wasn't disappointed. It is freaking gorgeous!

Bombshell is beautiful frosty pink shade. I totally fell in love with its golden shimmery hue. The texture is smooth and applies on well.  But like most M.A.C lipsticks, it does not last very long. It lasts about 3 hours at most, lesser if you eat and drink.

Still, its flaw doesn't diminish my love for this lipstick. I don't mind reapplying it as it is now my perfect shade of pink

I have always stuck to nude pink colors. But Bombshell has really increased my interest in brighter pinks. I will be more adventurous in choosing my pinks next time

Cheetos Craziness

What do you do when your final exams are over? In my case, it is movie time!!! My sister, cousin and I decided to have a the Lord of the Rings movie marathon. No other movie can ever beat this movie. I mean, I don't get bored of it even after watching it several times. LOTR is the greatest movie ever!

Now we all know that watching movies are made better with the presence of snacks :) So we got ourselves Cheetos!

Cheetos is really more expensive as compared to our local snacks due to the fact that it is imported. But hey, it is great to have something different once in a while. We only bought one packet as it is HUGE! It is enough to be shared among three people.

The Cheetos that we bought came in the form of mouth-watering large twisted puffs. I can't adequately describe how delicious they are! For a cheese lover like me, it tastes like heaven. It is slightly salty and soooo cheesy that I savoured every bite! Every crunch of the twisted puffs brought satisfaction. If you're a cheese person like me, then Cheetos is definitely for you.

We intended to watch ALL three of the Lord of the Rings movies but only managed to watched finish The Fellowship of the Ring and half of The Two Towers. You see, we started watching at 11pm and by the time we reached the second half of The Two Towers, we could barely keep our eyes open. It was already close to 5am at that time.

So we called it a day and went to bed. Perfect movie and perfect snack together with awesome people. What more can I ask for? :)

Prometheus

Freedom never tasted sooooo good! My final exams are finally OVER :) After slaving for weeks with my nose buried in notes and books, it's utterly refreshing to be able to do whatever I want again. I celebrated my long-missed freedom by going shopping (I know, typical right??). The shopping trip was further made perfect with the movie Prometheus.

My interest of this movie was piqued when I knew that it actually shows the origins of the aliens in the famous Alien movies. PLUS, Michael Fassbender is acting in this movie. I first knew him through X-Men First Class where he played Magneto.

I personally think that he looks better as Magneto. He is blonde in Prometheus

Doesn't really suit him, no? He looks better with dark hair. Not that I'm crazy about this dude, I'm loyal to my Chris Hemsworth! My sister, however, calls Michael her hubs!

Okay, so Prometheus is about a team of explorers who journey to another planet to discover the origins of mankind. But their initial euphoria of finding life there turns to horror when they find out that there's a plan to wipe out the human race. You get to see the typical gruesomeness of humans being attacked and killed by the aliens. I jumped and flinched several times during the movie. So do prepare yourselves for some shocks and gory scenes if you watch it.

The movie was nice. Interesting even. You should all the more watch it if you're a fan of the Alien movies. You get to see how the disgusting and creepy aliens came into being.

But there were quite a few holes that remained unexplained in the movie which left me confused. For example, it is not clarified why the humanoid aliens, who supposedly created mankind, wanted to destroy the human race. I was a tad disappointed as I really wanted to know why.

On the whole, Prometheus is fine. It is worth watching :)

On a more random note, I discovered a Korean makeup store called Holika Holika in the shopping mall.

I must say that I was absolutely mesmerized by the creativity of the makeup packaging. The quality of the makeup seems fab as well. Too bad I was too broke to get anything :( :( :( Oh well...there's always next time...

Etude House Pudding Dia Eyeshadow

I can never say no when it comes to glitter. This is especially so when it comes to shimmery makeup. Thus, the glitter magpie in me was instantly smitten when I saw the Pudding Dia Eyeshadow in Etude House. This product comes in five sweet shades:

I got the pink one since I love the color so much!

Its texture is unlike those of other cream eyeshadows that I have seen. This pudding-ish cream eyeshadow has a texture which I will describe as spongy. What I like about it is that the glitter is very fine. Chunky glitter can look rather tacky sometimes :/

For this product, you only need a small amount to achieve that gorgeous shimmery effect on your eyelids. So this product would actually last you a long time.

Still, this cream eyeshadow has a flaw. That is, you need to build up the color. One swipe of it will only give you a shimmery silver color. You need to layer it on before you can see the pink.

You can, however, solve this problem by applying a pink eyeshadow as a base first before putting this product on. That would give you a pretty sparkly pink color.

Despite its flaw, I still love this pudding eyeshadow as it gives my eyes the glittery look which I like!

Clinique Long-Lasting Glosswear

I wasn't planning on getting any makeup products during my trip to China. But when was I browsing around the Clinique counter in the airport, SOMETHING caught my eye.

Five sample-sized Clinique Long-Lasting lip glosses which are perfect for travel. I simply couldn't stop staring at them. I mean, they are soooo pretty! Did I mention that I love the colors offered as well? So I told myself that it was fate and got them!

From left: Goldspun ,Guavagold, Cabana Crush, Bonfire, Knockout Nude
Goldspun is a nude color. It doesn't really give color. It's more like a clear gloss. Guavagold is a peachy-pink color. I use it when I want a sheer tint of color on my lips. Cabana Crush is a hot pink which I really adore. It adds such a vibrant burst of color to my lips, love it! Bonfire is a darker shade of red, perfect if you want to go for a more sophisticated look.Knockout Nude has an earthy-brown nudish tone. It looks rather dark in the tube but it is sheerer than it appears when applied on the lips.

These lip glosses have teeny tiny flexes of golden glitter in them. No chunky or rough glitter that makes your lips look over-glittery! Definitely a plus point ^^

I must say that I don't regret buying them. As the name indicates, they are really long-lasting. They stay put even after eating and drinking. And they have SPF 15 too, which further justifies my purchase :)

The only weakness of these lip-glosses is their stickiness. They really are a bit sticky. But other than that, they are great!

The Good and The Bad

The Good

1. The awesome people around me: The caring mother, the fabulous twin sister, the hilarious cousin sister, the loving boyfriend, the wacky BFF and the warm course mates.

2. Upcoming movie marathon (Gonna watch 3 movies straight: The Hunger Games, Mirror Mirror and We Not Naughty)

3. New books to devour (Norwegian Wood by Haruki Murakami and a card making book)

4. A new M.A.C lipstick (It was free! Nuff said!)

The Bad

1. Piles upon piles of assignments to complete (it is really endless!)

2. The horrible 36°C weather (it is making me sluggish and turning my brain into an unproductive mush)

Yours truly shall end this post with a quote: Better to light a candle than curse the darkness :)
